Promotion Activity Report

Promotion Activity

Last September 12, 2011, our instructor in Elective 6 gave us a task that really measured how well we learned our lessons in our course. This task was to promote our course, Bachelor of Science in Technology Communication Management (BSTCM). Our strategic skills and knowledge in marketing and management as well as event organizing were put into test because of this task. This task would then be our final requirement for Elective 6 subject under Mrs. Franchette Mejia.

For me, the planning stage was the crucial part in this task. Everyone has their own ideas on how to make this promotion a success. After the task was given, all of us immediately met and put up a plan. Lots of suggestions were raised, many violent reactions were addressed and numerous comments were heard and definitely, only those executable and reachable suggestions were considered.

Since intramurals was approaching that time, we never let the opportunity to slip out from our hands. We made some promotional materials and tactics that certainly caught the attention of the people. We only have one day to make our promotional materials so each one of us was busy. We made headbands that carried the letters T, C and M, we also produced a tarpaulin that showcased the name of our course and the flyers would not be absent of course. Fortunately we were given space for the parade during the intramurals opening, from MUST to Limketkai Atrium. Positively, we made an impression to the public when we wore our headbands and had our own space in the parade. Every student wanted to have the same headbands we were wearing but unfortunately the headbands were limited. The University Trailblazer didn’t even let that scoop slip from their very watchful reporters. They even mentioned us in their latest edition.

The intramurals promotion was just the first part. The second part is the Career Talk to fourth year students. The school where we held our career talk was at Villanueva National High School (VNHS). We went there last October 12, 2011. The teachers there were so accommodating as well as the principal, Mrs. Ressurecion Padon.

There was a power failure when we got there at VNHS so the plan that we would gather all the students in one venue was cancelled. It was a very big disaster for us when we knew that there was a power failure. So instead of gathering them as one, we did a room to room career talk so that they could listen well since we could not use the speakers to boom our voices. We failed to use the LCD projector that we brought too. So what we did was, for the sake of visual presentation, we used the laptop to present the videos and PowerPoint presentations. We knew it was not enough but it could carry on.

When we had our talk, I could really see the enthusiasm of the students to course especially when we started talking about the activities of TCM, subjects and job offerings. Most of the students really said that they would love to take that course after their high school.

The whole experience of promoting our course was fun. We love the warm welcome given to us by the students and teachers of VNHS. We were also glad about the impact and impression brought by the headbands and our participation in the intramurals parade. As a whole this whole experience was like the sum of what I learned in TCM and I was happy and proud for this kind of experience I have.
