What Can I Say in Our Premarital Sex Symposium?
Talking about premarital sex (PMS) is no longer a big deal nowadays and to me personally. It’s already rampant and I’m pretty sure that most of the teenagers are practicing this kind of pleasure. I have friends who are into this kind of thing. Well, not to mention the number due to the fact that I could hardly count them but there
are lots of them. There are even some who are proud to share their bed experiences. Imagine that?
According to some of them, the world is just a big typical practical theater: If you would not take the seat, then others may take it. “Just like sex, if you won’t do it now, then you might not be able to experience it,” a quoted line from a friend of mine. He even said “life is too short so make the most of it.” And I certainly agree with that then he added, “You might not know that any minute from now Saint Peter will open his doors for you because you are already dead.” And with a bang, I was suddenly awakened from the truth.
But why is it that there are still individuals and groups who are barring this gift of pleasure? Why is it that others are still against PMS where in fact it is already rampant? Why would others say that it is wrong? How could
something that feels good be wrong? Those are just some questions that a typical teenager who is already engaged in PMS might ask.
Well morally speaking, PMS is not and will never be part of the list. It is against the divine law. And practically speaking, PMS has destroyed thousands of lives already, millions perhaps. Unwanted pregnancy is the most common case right now among youth. Many youths have already wasted their lives because of early pregnancies due to early sexual involvement. Aside from that, many diseases have already been scattered around the globe because of unsafe sex. These diseases are mainly scattered because of multiple partners and again these point to the culprit, PMS.
Last October 14, 2011 at the university AVC, BSTCM 4K2 and 4K3 invited three speakers from different Non-Government Units (NGOs) to share their knowledge in the symposium that talks about student sexuality and reproductive health and understanding STI, HIV and AIDS. Each TCM student was obliged to invite one teenager, males for the 4K2 and females for the 4K3.
During the symposium, it was found out that one of the main reasons why STI, HIV and AIDS were widely spread was because of unsafe sex brought by PMS. The TCM students as well as the invited students saw the different sexually transmitted infections (STI) through pictures. Those gruesome pictures made the students’ hair to stand because of its unimaginable effect to people.
If I could only show those STI pictures to my friends who are already engaged in PMS, I am pretty sure that they could have second thoughts on why did they involve early in PMS. They might think of their experiences and double check in their minds if their PMS partners before didn’t have any of the symptoms of STI. Because if they found out that even one of them carries the symptoms, then my friends could have thoughts of regrets of why having PMS at the early age. And as a result, he or she can now be a carrier of STI.![]()
HIV and AIDS were also discussed. Most cases of HIV and AIDS were acquired through unsafe PMS. These diseases are not curable and thus a person who has these kinds of illness will have to suffer for the rest of his/her life. HIV is just the portal going to the deadly AIDS. HIV directly attacks the immune system that allows more diseases to come easily and AIDS is the one that will kill you.
The symposium held became an icebreaker to the ignorance of the youth about the bad side of early sexual involvement. It was indeed a good start for the youth to shift their paradigm with regards to sex.
Biblically, sex is intended only to married people and it is sacred. It is not supposed to be played and it is not supposed to be treated as game. Everything falls in the right time and patience is a virtue. Sex is a thing that must be observed and practiced at the right time because the pleasure we get from it should make us better and not bitter because of STI, HIV and AIDS.
